Ghost Town Being Built to Test Tech
Remember the “Tomorrowland” attraction at Disney? It was a “town” that displayed Disney’s idea of what the future would look like, with all kinds of gallatic gizmos and futuristic home concepts. A more scientific venture into future home technology will open in New Mexico — this one for researchers only. The Center for Innovation,Testing and Evaluation, a facility in Lea County New Mexico will be built this summer to test future technology.
Did you know the Easter Island heads have bodies?
Yup it’s true. And some are as tall as 10 meters (33ft)! The Moai have overly large heads (3/5 the size of their bodies), and because of photographs taken in the 50’s of the slopes of Rano Raraku (where the statues are buried to their shoulders) many (including me) are lead to believe that they are only heads!
Check out the Easter Island Statue Project (http://www.eisp.org/) for more info on the excavation, Easter Island history, and more pictures!
Tripwire by J.M. Albert and A. Fure
Tripwire (2011) is a kinetic installation by the French visual artist Jean-Michel Albert and American composer Ashley Fure. A vertical set of 18 (or 24) elastic strings is set into an undulating motion, creating a wall of geometrical apparitions in constant flux.
Visitors passing along the structure are tracked via infrared sensors at the base of the installation, their presence affecting the preprogrammed waveforms.
